Q&A With VFX Soldier In SF & NY

I’ve setup tenative facebook events for my pending trips to the SF and NY areas to meet with VFX professionals and discuss our effort to curb VFX subsidies and the formation of the organization we call ADAPT: The Association of Digital Artists, Professionals, and Technicians:

San Francisco
New York

I will be actually flying out to these locations on a voluntary basis. If anyone in these regions would like to help set these events up please advise.

Soldier, yesterday one of the greatest human being that mankind ever got to know left us after fighting for years and eventually winning against apartheid. Let’s remember him in the best way he could possibly ever be remembered for: for what he showed and taught to the world. No fight is impossible to win, changes are hard to happen but possible to achieve if the will is strong and the persistence is endless. VFX artists let’s join together into the ADAPT and put the end word to the subsidies race.

Let Mr. Mandela’s journey be a guiding light to our final resolution, we can all do it together. As he defeated one of the world’s biggest enemy, we can too win our smaller battle.

    ALL SOLDIERS ON.

I am ready to join ADAPT. I don’t know if this is possible for a Canadian. All I know, people who signed the Rep Card, came back to the IATSE person , and told him they are afraid to continue and asked for their signature to be removed.
      People are afraid.
So this is not a small battle Dante. It’s going to be hard and people will loose their jobs for sure, before any normality will be introduced.

  3. Gemma says:

Wait so someone was hacking your fucking emails at work? This is serious shit!!! Listening to the fxguide podcast now. Scary stuff.

  4. Daniel says:

Why don’t you come to Vancouver?

    • VFX Soldier says:

I would be more than happy to come to Vancouver. Problem is I’m doing this on my own money and the US International Trade Court needs me to demonstrate domestic industry support which I’m hoping to rally with these visits.

  5. Gemma says:

Can you elaborate on the suspects that were hacking your email? If this is true there should be a serious investigation. Right?

    • VFX Soldier says:

I don’t know who it was but someone was using software to compare my emails from work to my blog to determine authorship.

Problem is anyone who used the work “subsidy” would have probably been accused of being VFX soldier which is one of the reasons I came out: they went after the wrong guy and tried to send his info to various companies in the hopes of intimidating him.

      • Gemma says:

Sounds like it might have been IT and/or HR persons behind this, in order to have access to your emails. That makes sense, I thought you meant you were hacked. Yes there is web based software which is free. I’ve seen it before. Thanks for the response and thanks for being strong.
