A Conversation With Dave Rand In Vancouver

The IATSE in Vancouver will be holding an event with VFX artist Dave Rand:

January 14, 2010, 7.00pm

PAL Theatre

581 Cardero St

Vancouver.

RSVP vfx@iatse.com

For those unfamiliar with who Dave Rand is I’d encourage you to check out fxguide’s article on him. Dave Rand is someone that garners a lot of admiration amongst artist for his willingness to open up and publicly talk about the issues vfx artists have been facing. Here is someone who worked for a company that was on the verge of going out of business and refused to pay artists what they were owed. Instead of trying to bury the issue he went public about it and received a great amount of support.

I get a lot of criticism for writing my blog on the condition of anonymity. It’s for a good reason: For example I caught word of a facility executive speculating who VFX Soldier was. Regardless, I write a bit about the need to have a dialogue and if I were in Vancouver I’d encourage you to check it out.

Soldier On.
